Why I Believe in "The Secret" - Answering My Nbr 1 Question

I am frequently asked why I believe in "The Law of Attraction" or "The Secret". So it is time to let you all know exactly why I do. First of all, this is my belief. I do not expect everyone to jump on board and support my beliefs, they are mine and I am very loyal to what I believe. My belief is the result of my own research and a lot of soul searching and has solidly planted the belief of the Law into my heart.

I have been a student of the Law of Attraction for years. I have seen it in action time and again, both in positive results and unfortunately, in negative results. By understanding how to apply the Law of Attraction in my own life, I have dramatically changed my life and my results in many areas and I have witnessed dramatic changes in others as well.

When I first heard of the "Law", I was very skeptical. I dabbled with it, tested it on small things, watched the results of others who were applying it into their lives. But I had a lingering doubt in the back of my mind that I can only explain by saying, I was concerned that it may be against my spiritual beliefs. In other words, I was afraid it may be satanistic, or something of the occult, maybe something evil. I laugh now when I think back to those days. I never doubted that it worked, I only doubted it's origin.

So my search for information began. My first goal, was to find scriptures that clearly defined the Law of Attraction, actually expecting to debunk it at last. But to my surprise, the reverse happened. I am a Christian and believe the Bible is the true word of God. I also believe it will provide an answer to you for any issue you have in your life.

Through my search, I have found many scriptural references which totally support the Law of Attraction. Scriptures that not only confirm it, but clearly explain how to apply it into our lives for whatever results we desire.

I believe that God puts desires in our heart and if He puts a desire in our heart, He wants to fulfill those desires. If one believes in the Bible as the true word of God, then one must believe that God wants us to have the desires of our heart.

I believe the Law of Attraction is truly the Holy Spirit at work in us. It is the power of Faith, and in that faith is the key to releasing God's promises in our lives. One must believe that He loves us and wants us to succeed in every area.

Receipt of our desires happens only through faith and gratitude. Therefore, if you apply the Law of Attraction, letting God know what your desires are and have total Faith they will be received, then they are. "Ask and it is given" is released only by faith and gratitude.

The Law of Attraction is Faith in it's truest sense. We have two choices of how to live our lives. They are in faith, or in fear. Both are application of the Law of Attraction. Both are believing in something you can not actually see.

When you live your life in fear (or worry) of what may happen, you are actually placing your belief or expectation into the bad things that may come to you. On the other hand, if you live your life in faith, expecting God's blessings to come to you, absolutely nothing is impossible and the Law of Attraction, through faith, brings those promises into your life.

In my belief, that is the power behind "The Secret". It is the power to turn on the blessings in store for each of us. Now, do I believe that only Christians can apply the Law of Attraction? Absolutely not!

Anyone can have faith to receive the desires of their heart. Just because they do not know where those blessings come from does not stop them from coming. God's blessings are for everyone, not just for those who have a relationship with Him. His blessings are available through faith and faith alone.

This is why I know the Law of Attraction absolutely works every time.

To your success.

So I'm curious....what are your scriptural proofs for "the law of attraction" being true? I saw none in your post, just you saying that you find it not at odds with your faith.

Could you explain further please?

Thank you very much Annette for asking this question. I started to use the scriptures in my post, however chose not to, allowing those (as yourself) who were curious, to ask. I am certain if someone totally opposed my opinion, the scriptures would not make a difference to them anyway, so best left in comment.

I am assuming you believe that faith and belief in God are the same thing. As defined in the Bakers Evangelical Dictionary, the definition of belief is the same as faith. With that said, here are some of the scriptures I make reference to (definitely not all of them).

Proverbs 23, 7 (KJV) For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he (AMP) For as he thinks in his heart, so is he
Mark 11:23 (KJV) For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. (NLT) I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.

Mark 11:24 (KJV) I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. (NLT) I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours
Mark 9:23 (KJV) Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (NLT) “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”

Matthew 17:20 (KJV) And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. (NLT) You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.

Matthew 7:7 (KJV) Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you (NLT) Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:11 (KJV) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (NLT) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Annette, I also believe that resting faith (pure, unquestionable faith) does not bother with "can" and "will"; a believer who is resting confidently in the Lord says, "It's done." With mature faith, a believer can move mountains. I suggest reading the entire book of Matthew which clearly defines this statement.

You may also refer to:
Hebrews 11: 1-3
Ephesians 3:12
I Corinthians 2:5
Romans 15:13

I could go on and on, but this is certainly a good start for you to consider. If I can assist with further clarifying, please let me know.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the law of attraction?

Wanda Grindstaff said...

Hello RileysOwner,

Thanks for a great question. It is easy for those of us who are very involved in this powerful law of the universe to forget that not everyone is familiar with it. So, your question will help many people I am certain.

Simply put, the Law of Attraction says that "I attract into my life whatever I give my energy, focus and attention to, whether wanted or unwanted".

Have you seen the movie "The Secret"? If not, be sure to check it out on www.thesecret.tv or on youtube.com you can get snippets of it.

This movie addresses the power of the Law of Attraction. The "Law" has been around for thousands of years, always existent inside every human being. Many books written about it, Think and Grow Rich, The Science of Getting Rich, As a Man Thinketh, Ask and it is Given, etc...

This is the underlying reason why there are people who it seems only bad things happen to and other people who it seems everything they touch turns to gold. People like Donald Trump are very familiar with the workings of this law.

I hope this brief overview assisted you. Check back to my blog frequently, I am in the process of writing an article to explain it in detail.

Make it a great day, you deserve it.

Thanks for this great post Wanda. I think many of us have experienced the fear of going against our religion or beliefs with regards to the law of attraction at one point or another. This is a wonderful post that will encourage lost of people to change their lives and to see there is nothing bad about using this universal law in our favor.

Great post you have. Personally, i really believed in the Law of Attraction.

In business, there is 1 mentor of mine who said "if you are the loop of business, you will get to see opportunities that others can't see if they are not in the loop".

To me, this is the Law of Attraction at work. =)

I have been reading and studying the law of attraction for a couple years now. Ever since I was a little boy I noticed how things attracted. I knew the law of attraction but just by a different name. A few months ago I came across the secret. I loved it as soon as I first saw the DVD. I went out and bought the book. I feasted on it! I centered all I did and thought around it. It fit right in with my religious beliefs.
A few weeks ago a hit some very hard days of my life. I wondered how a person so energized and focused could be knocked off course as I had been. I began doubting that I ever had really been attracting things into my life. I could never doubt my religion, but I doubted the ability to attract things as the secret. For days and days i went on without my old energy and enthusiasm. I really wanted my old strength and magical views of life back. I turned to the scriptures but still couldn't get back to my old self. I got on the internet and just googled, "the sercret is true" and began reading. Then I typed, "i believe in the secret." I read around and eventually found your blog. I felt great joy reading and when I came to a certain paragraph I felt joy and excitement return. I found the missing piece I needed to put my creative and powerful self back together! Here it is:

I believe that God puts desires in our heart and if He puts a desire in our heart, He wants to fulfill those desires.

Thank you for posting your beliefs! My heart is at peace again and I am ready to begin building where I left off.

Thank you for your comment Michael. I must admit that I have been greatly blessed by what you have written. We all go through challenging times on occassion and it is how we handle those that determines where we go from there. God has put these thoughts and feelings into my heart and I am very grateful to Him that in some small way, they have helped others to see the power of the imagination God has given each of us. God Bless You.

Dear Wanda,
Thank you, I have been trying to send you a comment but everytime I try to write something I realized what I have done wrong and not put into practise.
Your blog is a great eye opener and the missing link between Christianity and the Law of Attraction.
Thank you.
